Sarah, Duchess of York attended the St Vincent's Life Ball in Sydney

Sarah, 57, turned heads in a chic floor-length black gown with lace detailing, while Jane opted for a gorgeous red gown with a white overlay. The glitzy event not only aimed to raise money for St Vincent's Hospital, but also marked 120 years since the opening of the cricket ground's Ladies Pavilion.

The pavilion was particularly special for Sarah and Jane, whose great-great-grandmother Viscountess Hamden laid the foundation stone when it was first opened.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's mother marked the occasion on Instagram, sharing a gorgeous photo of herself and Jane as they arrived for the ball.

The 57-year-old also visited the hospital and met patients and staff

"So honoured to be at the @stvincentshospitalsydney #lifeball at the #scg with @janeferguson7," she wrote in the snap's accompanying caption. "@raminmarzbani @platform_me @heidiluedecke #sydney #australia #icu #philanthropy #sydneycricketground #anthonyschembri."

During the trip Sarah and Jane also made time to go and visit the hospital itself, spending time talking with patients and staff as well as posing for photos. Sarah gave her followers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her day out with Jane, sharing a photo as she met Sister Anthea who has worked at the hospital for decades, and won a Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to nursing and to St Vincent's.

"Loved seeing Sister Anthea, the amazing patients and staff @stvincentshospitalsydney today," she wrote. "Looking forward to the #lifeball at the #scg tomorrow night #sydneycricketground #australia @janeferguson7."

Sister Anthea also attended the ball the following evening, joining Sarah onstage to address the guests and welcome them to the fun night out, which included a three-course meal and an auction.
