Charlene will be honored on two stamps commemorating five years of the Princess of Monaco Foundation

Prince Albert’s wife retired from competitive swimming in 2007 and started the foundation in 2012. The mother-of-two’s objective for the foundation was to raise public awareness to the danger of water by teaching children how to swim while also teaching preventive water safety measures. The actions of the Charlene of Monaco Foundation are based on the values that come with the sport including, self-respect, discipline and team spirit.  In 2016, Charlene brought the now-global foundation to the United States. The Princess traveled to the Boys and Girls Club of Saint Anne School Branch in Santa Monica, California for the Safer 3 Water Foundation’s Challenge. Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques’ mother got hands on as she jumped in the pool and helped children conquer their fear of the water and offered underwater safety tips.

During the event, Charlene opened up about the importance of her organisation saying: "Around the globe, thousands of innocent lives are tragically lost to drowning every year. I am here to share with you how many lives we are saving - and how many more we can save, simply by training the trainers and by focusing on one person, one family, and one community at a time." She continued: "Having spent years teaching underprivileged children to acquire basic water safety techniques around aquatic environments, I can only say that simple ideas are often the most effective."
