Samantha Cameron flew the flag for Britain in China on Thursday. The Prime Minister's wife was in Hong Kong for the launch of Smythson, the luxury stationary company Samantha was previously creative director of.Wearing a smart navy dress, with oversized capped sleeves, fashionable Samantha opened a branch of Smythson by cutting the bespoke ribbon with a pair of golden scissors.Mother-of-three Samantha accessorised her outfit with a pair of nude court shoes and a large gold necklace. As a creative consultant for the brand, Samantha carried a chic purple Smythson folder.

As Samantha was busy representing the company she has worked for for more than 17 years, Prime Minister David Cameron was in Brussels for the EU Summit.

Later on Thursday Samantha swapped her day wear for a more glamorous evening gown. Angelica Cheung, editor-in-chief of Vogue China, tweeted a photograph of Samantha in a pink Roksanda Ilincic dress, chatting to her fellow guests."#samanthacameron in a beautiful @RoksandaIlincic dress in Hong Kong celebrating 125 years of #smythson," tweeted Angelica.

Samantha, 42, wore the same dress, but in a different colour, by the London-based fashion designer when she stepped out with husband David at the Conservative summer ball. The belted orange gown, complete with sandy-coloured heel and clutch bag.Scunthorpe-born Samantha was made Smythson's creative director before 1996, when she married David.Two days after her husband became Prime Minister, Samatha announced she was stepping down from her full-time in favour of a less-intense, consultancy role within the company for two days a week.
