Sophie, Countess of Wessex, has arrived in Qatar as she begins the next leg of her royal solo tour. The Queen's daughter-in-law, who is travelling with the sight-saving charity ORBIS, paid a visit to the Islamic Museum of Arts in the capital Doha, and admired the collection of historic works on display.

Sophie looked radiant in a white jacket and blue patterned trousers, which she paired with a blue chiffon scarf and cream wedges. The elegant mother-of-two swept her blonde hair into a low ponytail and happily posed for photographs under the arches of the museum's courtyard.

Carrying on with her royal engagements, Sophie also met with Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani on the first day of her visit.

The pair chatted away in the elegant surroundings of the Doha Palace, and Sophie once again looked graceful in a red dress and scarf, and nude heels.

Later that evening, the radiant royal attended a charity gala dinner at Katara Hall where she donned a floor-length blue skirt and striking patterned top.

Sophie's trip to Qatar follows on from her week-long tour of India, where the countess was working to raise awareness and support for the charity ORBIS. She arrived via the charity's flying eye hospital, a DC-10 plane that brings surgery to those living in poverty-stricken areas. As part of her support for the charity, Prince Edward's wife watched a man receive cataract surgery and tried her hand at the operation using a simulator.

Sophie also met medical volunteers from around the world who were sharing their skills with local eye care workers in a bid to improve eye care in the local communities. She then gave a speech at a medical training symposium in Kolkata where she spoke of her interest in the sight-saving charity.
