Remember those photos of Prince George and Princess Charlotte holding Christmas candy canes outside the Middleton family church in Englefield, Berkshire? Prince William and Kate's two children were the picture of sweetness and had fans cooing at the sight.

George, three, was pictured eating his candy cane as he left St Mark's holding his father's hand while Charlotte, who turns two in May, poked the gravel with hers.

Rev. Nick Wynne-Jones revealed that his Christmas sermon attended by the Cambridge family and the Middletons, including James and Pippa, had been about Jesus being a "rock". The candy canes had been given out as a visual aid for the children in attendance and there had also been "colouring" and "sticking" for the youngsters there.

When asked about how well George and Charlotte, behaved throughout the service, the Reverend replied: "Impeccably".

Joining in the festive fun were Kate's siblings, James and Pippa, and their parents Carole and Michael Middleton. Pippa, 33, arrived at the church with her fiancé James Matthews, 41, and the couple stopped to chat to the priest outside church afterwards. They are due to marry at St Mark's on 20 May.

This was the second year that Prince William and Kate had spent with the Middletons since their marriage in 2011 and for the royal children, their very first at their grandparents' seven-bedroom Berkshire home.

The Cambridges usually spend the holiday season with the rest of the British royal family in Sandringham, by invitation of the Queen.

Prince William and Kate are expected to relocate to London sometime this year, ahead of George starting school. The little boy is tipped to attend Wetherby School in Notting Hill, a stone's throw away from Kensington Palace, in September. Both Princes William and Harry attended the school.

With a new school and a potential move to the city, 2017 is shaping up to be a milestone year for a boy who will one day be King.
