During these recent years, Camilla has also undergone something of a makeover. The
waxed jackets and wellington boots have been replaced with dresses by the likes of Versace and Valentino. She has even given up smoking for the Prince. But the one thing Camilla hasn’t changed is her hair. Though it is styled regularly by Hugh and Stephen of Mayfair, Charles has insisted that she keep the same feathered style she had
when they first met.
News that the couple are finally engaged won’t come as a surprise to those who know them. Not only do they have much in common – a love of country life, horses, hunting and dogs along with various cultural interests – they adore spending time together.
Friends believe Camilla is not only a steadying and calming influence on the Prince’s life but that she will give him the strength and support he needs when he
eventually becomes King. And the fact they have been through so much over the past 35 years and are still eager to commit to each other is testimony to their enduring love.
