MAXIMA OF THE NETHERLANDS
Arrived on: June 26, 2005
Maxima kicked off the current crown princess baby boom when it was announced in late December 2004 that she and husband Crown Prince Willem-Alexander were expecting their second child.

It was the couple's first born, then-one-year-old Princess Catharina Amalia, who let the world know about the pending royal bundle of joy. The endearing statement, issued in the tiny princess' name, stated: "I'm really glad I can tell everyone that I will expect a baby brother or sister in mid-July 2005."

The family was thrilled to welcome Princess Alexia Juliana Marcella Laurentien on June 26, 2005 – a bit earlier than had been expected. "Here she is," the crown prince declared as he proudly showed off his beautiful 7lb 7oz baby girl, who was born at Bronovo Hospital in the Hague. In a nod to tradition, newest member of the family wore the same dress both Willem-Alexander and Amalia donned when they were born.

But the crown prince was also sure to give kudos to his Argentina-born spouse, who was recuperating inside the clinic as Princess Alexia was introduced to well-wishers for the first time. "I'm proud of my wife," said the father-of-two, "who again, did an excellent job."
