MATHILDE OF BELGIUM
Due date: October 2005
With Crown Princess Mathilde expecting this autumn, and her sister-in-law Princess Claire pregnant with twins, the Belgian royal family seems to be in the midst of its very own population explosion.

In April, six years after aristrocrat Mathilde wed Belgium's Crown Prince Philippe, it was revealed that the prince and his wife would be welcoming a sibling for Princess Elisabeth – who will one day accede the throne – and her younger brother Prince Gabriel.

The new arrival will be the ninth grandchild for King Albert II and Queen Paola, and the fourth in the line of succession, after Prince Philippe and his first two children.

While the baby's due date is in October, if the new addition follows family tradition, he or she may arrive ahead of schedule. Brother Gabriel Baudouin Charles Marie's delivery came in August 2003, although his birth wasn't expected until September. When his sister Elisabeth Therese Marie Helene was born in 2001 she arrived weeks before her due date as well.
