METTE-MARIT OF NORWAY
Due date: December 2005
The epicentre of the royal baby trend moved to northern Europe on April 25, when two pregnancies among Scandinavia's crown princesses were revealed on the same day.

Just hours after it emerged that Denmark's Frederik and Mary were expecting their first child, the news broke that Norway's Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Merit would also be adding a new member to the family.

The pregnancy is the crown princess' third. Her daughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, is husband Haakon's only child, while her son Marius is Mette-Merit's first-born from a previous relationship.

The new baby, whose arrival is expected in December 2005, will be third in line to the monarch after Haakon and Princess Ingrid, who is modern Norway's first-ever female heir to the throne. Marius, who was born in 1997, four years before his mother wed the Norwegian prince, holds no title and is not in the line of succession.
