In 2003, rumours of a walk down the aisle with her royal beau began to heat up after Camilla attended the wedding of her niece, Alice Elliot, wearing an enormous sapphire and diamond ring on her wedding finger.
However, while the gem was an engagement ring, it wasn't from the Prince of Wales. The heirloom was once worn by one of Camilla's Keppel ancestors, and she simply felt it was "appropriate" for the occasion. While many speculated the outing was a media-savvy foreshadowing of a coming announcement, a spokesperson for Prince Charles insisted there was "no significance" in Camilla's choice of accessory.
