The jewellery debut for which the world had waited years finally appeared in 2005 – Camilla's engagement ring.
The newly-engaged bride-to-be was glowing as she showed off her dazzling royal heirloom ring – a platinum-set square-cut diamond flanked by baguette-cut stones – which was once owned by the late Queen Mother. The jewel had been a gift to Charles' beloved grandmother from her husband, George VI, when she became pregnant with the couple's first child.
Camilla, who wore a full-length fuchsia Jean Muir gown for her first appearance as Prince Charles' future wife, admitted: "I am only just coming down to Earth". And when asked if the future king had got down on one knee when he popped the question, she happily replied: "Of course. What else?".
