| Royal wedding planners are aiming to make sure May 14 lives forever in the memories of the Danish people. By the time the morning of the big day arrives, authorities will have completed weeks of preparations to ready the city for the many thousands of well-wishers expected to line its streets. A roll-call of European royals and top dignitaries from both Australia and Europe will meanwhile take their seats in Copenhagen Cathedral to witness the happy couple exchange their vows at 4pm. As soon as the ceremony is completed, a horse-drawn carriage is to convey the newlyweds through the streets of the capital and on to the palace complex at Amalienborg where they are to appear on the balcony. There they will have a few moments to catch their breath before being whisked off to Fredensborg Castle for a lavish wedding banquet. |
When Frederik and Mary announced their engagement, huge crowds turned out to show their approval. No doubt the throng will be even bigger on their wedding day |
