From then on, the princess dedicated her life to her growing family – Princess Caroline, born in 1957, heir to the throne Prince Albert, born in 1958, and daughter Princess Stephanie, born in 1965 – and her charity efforts. As her children grew older, the princess focused increasingly on philanthropic causes that continue today, including the Monaco Red Cross and the Princess Grace Foundation.
Her charitable work would be just part of the legacy Grace left after she suffered a stroke while driving with daughter Stephanie outside Monte Carlo on September 13, 1982 . Badly injured, the Hollywood star who became a princess died the following day of a cerebral haemorrhage. She was 52 years old.
