AN EXCEPTIONAL GUEST

The Queen almost never attends the weddings of European royals, but there have been a few exceptions, including Princess Alexia of Greece's 1999 wedding in London
Following the precedent set by her parents and grandparents, the Queen almost never attends the weddings of European royals. Instead, she is represented by members of her family. Prince Charles represented her at the wedding of Crown Prince Felipe of Spain, while Edward and Sophie represented her at Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark's wedding. There has been the occasional exception. The Queen has attended the London weddings of two of the King of Greece's children – Prince Pavlos and Princess Alexia.
