Described by high school pals as "generous", "popular" and "a good friend", Autumn has an easy-going nature which must have helped her adapt well to moving in royal circles. "Autumn is able to talk about anything to anyone," says a family friend.

Though her background is very different from Peter's - she grew up in a sleepy suburb in the English-speaking enclave of Montreal, attended a state school and comes from a working class family - she shares much in common with her Gordonstoun-educated fiancé in terms of outlook on life.
