Harry's road to adulthood has been a bumpy one. He was just 17 when he found himself at the centre of a storm of controversy after being caught smoking cannabis. Prince Charles' response was to send his son to visit a rehabilitation centre in an effort to show him the dangers of substance abuse, and most royal watchers wrote the matter off as little more than normal teenage experimentation.

More recently he has suffered less sympathetic attention when he was forced to issue an apology after wearing a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party. The incident came just months after the Prince was involved in a fracas with photographers outside a London club.

At the time Clarence House was tackling allegations he'd cheated in his A-levels, and some commentators began referring to "the Harry problem". Many believe the discipline of military training will be the making of the man, however, and Harry certainly seems to have taken to Army life with aplomb.
