Aside from her tireless charity work and commitment to royal duties - she is patron of 21 organisations in Denmark - Alexandra has embraced the challenge of being a working mum. Devoted to her boys, she glows with pride whenever she mentions them in public and during her marriage tried to make sure one parent was always at home to look after them.
Unable to have them accompany her on a trip to Sarajevo, Alexandra made it a priority to stay in touch with the youngsters who remained at home in the care of a nanny. "I call home every night to talk to Nikolai. Felix doesn't speak yet, but I am very deliberate about making sure that Nikolai is the first to say good-bye before we hang up," she said at the time.
