To her parents she's Trixie, Bosser or just plain Bea, but Prince Andrew's daughter was actually born Beatrice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor. Her arrival at 8.18pm on August 8, 1988, could not have been better timed - according to the Chinese calendar the date was the most auspicious of the last century.
As the daughter of one of the Queen's sons the new addition was styled Her Royal Highness, with her father apparently opposed to suggestions that his daughter take a lesser title. Her parents emphasised her aristocratic lineage by naming her after Queen Victoria's youngest daughter.
But her mother, the Duchess of York, also made sure the 6lb 12oz new arrival would be touched by the ordinary world of "commoners", a hope reflected in the choice of godparents. Only one - Lord Linley - came from royal circles, the others included Peter Palumbo, a polo pal of Sarah's father, and Carolyn Cotterell, her former flatmate.
