A 21ST CENTURY WINDSOR
Those who meet Prince Andrew's daughter are quick to mention her impeccable manners and "Tigger-ishly friendly" nature. She'll happily chat about downloading music onto her iPod, Orlando Bloom, or her enthusiasm for shows like The OC and Desperate Housewives.

While in many respects she enjoys ordinary teenage interests, Beatrice's parents have also made sure their flame-haired daughter is thoroughly conversant in the duties of a royal life. One of her first charity engagements was accompanying mum Sarah on a visit to a facility for HIV babies in Russia. The thoughtful young woman who has spoken publicly about her dyslexia has also been involved since 2005 with Springboard, an organisation which promotes literacy skills among inner-city youngsters.

As fifth in line to the throne, Beatrice is familiar with the trappings of life as a modern royal – both the advantages and disadvantages. And while she can lay claim to the undeniably glittering title of Her Royal Highness, her every step is shadowed by "BGs", as friends refer to her bodyguards.
