The enormous affection which the British public holds for Prince William is very much reflected among the members of the Windsor household. It is well known that he has a very close relationship with both his grandparents, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, while the Queen Mother felt strongly enough about her great grandson to give him a luxurious cottage on the Balmoral Estate.
Among the younger royals, Wills is closest to his brother Harry, though he is also seen out and about with cousins Peter and Zara Phillips, who has a reputation for teasing him unmercifully, much to William's amusement. The strongest influence in his life, however, is his father the Prince of Wales. Charles has gone to great lengths to support and guide his eldest son along what has, at times, been a difficult road. This was much in evidence during the painful days and weeks that followed the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997. Over time Wills has shown great courage and character not only in coming to terms with the loss of his mum, but also in developing a healthy relationship with his stepmother Camilla.
