When a brand new racing circuit opened at Padborg Park in southern Denmark, the country's Prince Joachim was one of the first to get behind the wheel for a trial lap. After climbing aboard a Lotus, Queen Margrethe's younger son revved up for another adrenalin-packed trip. This time in a Citroen Xsara Coupe VTS belonging to Henrik Larsen, one of the country's top names in touring car racing - a sport involving heavily modified street vehicles.
But Joachim's real passion is competing in vintage automobile races. Since 2001 the royal has been a regular fixture at the national historic car tournament, where he is said to handle his vehicle with impressive skill.
