However, it was only on loan	When Queen Rania of Jordan ascended the throne alongside her husband, King Abdullah II, she donned a stunning $2 million diamond-encrusted tiara – borrowed from her sister-in-law. "Why should I spend a vast amount of money on something I will not wear very often?" was the way Rania saw it. Ladies, give her time… In 2000, a show of 80 dazzling tiaras opened at the Museum Of Fine Arts in Boston. But when the exhibit's curator Diana Scarisbrick set about obtaining pieces from contemporary royals, she ran into some unexpected opposition from the British Monarchy. "I got turned down because a royal spokesman explained that the Queen wears her tiaras constantly, not just at banquets in Britain but on tours abroad," says Scarisbrick. "Princess Anne gave me the same answer. Neither she nor her mother could go without their tiaras for up to nine months."
