Return to start  A trio of tennis players  Kim Clijsters  Jelena Dokic  Barbara Schett

Jelena Dokic, ranked 16, was born in Yugoslavia but now lives in Tampa, Florida, with her parents and brother Savo, ten. She made international headlines when she toppled Martina Hingis 6-2,6-0 in the first round at Wimbledon in 1999, becoming the lowest-ranked player (at 129) in professional tennis history ever to beat the world's number one. She reached the quarter-finals and last year reached the semi-finals before losing to Lindsay Davenport. Straight after this HELLO! shoot, she won the Italian Open, beating Amelie Mauresmo.
Jelena, 18, loves shopping but tennis leaves little time so she has it down to a fine art. "I ask around for the best shopping street which has brands such as Prada and Gucci - I buy what I like at that moment, Armani, Chanel or an unknown name." Her beauty attracts much attention, though she isn't a slave to her image, saying, "I'm bored of my long hair so I'm thinking of cutting it off." Jelena, who is sponsored by Fila, enjoys modelling but says: "Acting would be more fun. If the offer was right I'd love to be in a movie one day."
