Gloucestershire: The Brew House, near Moreton-in-the-Marsh
There’s a touch of class about this
renovated Cotswold stone cottage
in the courtyard of a village manor
house in Bourton-on-the-Hill just a
few miles from Moreton-in-the-
Marsh. An open fire burns in the
inglenook fireplace, overhead is a
vaulted ceiling with original beams
and in the sitting room, overlooked
by a gallery, there are gorgeous
flagstone floors.
When it comes to the fixtures,
not everything is antique – there’s
full central heating, a washing
machine and microwave as well as a
fully equipped kitchen and modern
en-suite bathroom. It’s the perfect retreat for a
couple – but not for smokers,
babies, children or dogs.
What to see: Chipping Campden,
Broadway, Woodstock, Burford
and Stow-on-the-Wold are delightful
villages to browse around.
