Claudia Schiffer has been introducing son Caspar to some favourite spots on her beloved island of Majorca. Dressed in a retro cotton dress, the supermodel toted the toddler on her hip when she and her mum visited a restaurant in the town of Camp de Mar.
The statuesque German has long maintained a holiday home on the island, which was a favourite family destination when she herself was a child. In 1997 she built a £2-million villa overlooking the bay. But because of sightseers keen to catch a glimpse of the international fashion icon, she later purchased a further 150 square miles of wilderness from King Juan Carlos of Spain, who is a personal friend, to protect her privacy.
Here, in the south-west of the island close to the village of Camp de Mar, she built a £6-million mountain-top retreat with two homes, one for herself, Caspar and her British film producer husband Matthew Vaughn, and the other for her parents Gudrun and Karl-Heinz, and her brother and sister. The luxury getaway features a stunning swimming pool and fitness suite, as well as a triple garage.
Located 40 kilometres west of Majorca's capital, Palma, Camp de Mar is a small, exclusive beach resort with a fine sandy beach. The area boasts a pair of fine golf courses, and is close to the Puerto de Andratx, one of the best known yacht marinas on the island.
Claudia also has houses in London, New York, Germany and Monte Carlo, in addition to Coldham Hall, the Suffolk home where the family's based.
