While most Americans spent Thanksgiving enjoying turkey and all the trimmings, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt decided to spend the day in a less conventional manner. The pair took to the streets of Vietnam on a motorbike, to do a little sightseeing.
Currently taking a break from filming A Mighty Heart in India, the 31-year-old actress and her partner are clearly turning into old Asia hands. Unfased by Ho Chi Minh's hectic traffic conditions, Brad looked chilled as he took the controls, while an equally laidback-looking Angelina perched behind him. Asked whether he was worried about navigating the chaotic streets, Brad smiled and said, "There will be no problem."
The Tinseltown duo arrived in the city following a brief trip to Cambodia, original home of the couple's five-year-old adopted son, Maddox. It was a welcome return for Angelina, who filmed Tomb Raider in the country in 2001, and was made an honourary citizen of Cambodia in 2004 in honour of her humanitarian work there.
They also inspected a forest conservation project Angelina has set up in Maddox's name. The UN Goodwill Ambassador has pledged over £650,000 over five years to preserve the endangered woodlands.
And there's plenty to keep the family entertained in Ho Chi Minh. The city's Fine Arts Museum, which is housed in a grand French colonial building, contains an eclectic collection of art, while the city's oldest Buddhist pagoda, the Giac Lam, offers yet more cultural insights. Meanwhile, if all that motorbiking around town helps give them an appetite, the adventurous pair will probably also be checking out the myriad French and Asian restaurants which give the metropolis its cosmopolitan buzz.
