Viura: originality in the Rioja wine region

The architectural structure comprised of whimsically superimposed cubes that apparently sprout from the earth itself combined with large picture windows that seem to bring the relaxing scenery right inside the rooms, makes the newly-opened Viura hotel an original option in a traditional setting.

The most advanced techniques and materials have been used to create this avant-garde work of art, which is in direct juxtaposition with the landscape, while at the same time working as a perfect foil for it.

Located in Villabuena de Alava, in the Roja Alavesa, the hotel provides an ideal base from which to discover this justly famous wine-producing region. It is just 20 minutes from the town of Logroño and 10 minutes from such world famous and emblematic wineries as Ysios, the architectural work of Santiago Calatrava, and the Marques de Riscal winery, the revolutionary creation of Frank Gehry.

The 33 spacious rooms are furnished in contemporary style and include carefully chosen details. The innovative technological and decorative elements produce a marvellous effect of peace and tranquility.

Besides the magnificent restaurant where you can sample fine dishes from Rioja and Basque cuisine, the bar, the ancient wine cellar and gym, on the top floor, the Viura boasts  stunning roof terraces offering panoramic views of the church of San Andres built between 1538 and 1728, and the mountains of the Sierra de Cantabria.
