Glastonbury: a guide to the world's biggest music festival

Kate Moss, sisters Cara and Poppy Delevingne, Pixie Geldof, Kelly Osbourne and Alexa Chung are just a few of the celebrities who love to make their way to Worthy Farm in Somerset for Glastonbury, the biggest music festival in the world. They're joined by around 200,000 other music lovers who camp out for five days of live performances from the likes of Dolly Parton, Metallica, Lana Del Rey, Arcade Fire and Kasabian. Circus performers, poets, DJs and even the English National Ballet will also appear on one of the festival's 100+ stages, making up the whopping 2,000 acts. Other performances that promise to be stellar are Rodrigo y Gabriela, Lily Allen, Elbow – all playing on Friday on the Pyramid Stage. Blondie will be hitting the Other Stage on Friday, while Manic Street Preachers and Jake Bugg will make appearances on Saturday. Other greats acts not to be missed are Nitin Sawhney, Ed Sheeran, The Black Keys, and Goldfrapp.

More than 2,000 acts will perform at Glastonbury over five days

The most world's biggest music festival offers a lot more than music. Set in the sprawling Somerset countryside stretching across 1,200 acres, Glasto offers a wide range of wonderful spaces for chilling out away from the big stages. Music lovers can also experience the delights of the creative installation Shangri-La and its Heaven and Hell themed areas and pay their respects to iconic Clash frontman Joe Strummer in the aptly named Strummerville where the campfire burns brightly in his memory.

Drop by the futuristic Arcadia to see reshaped military hardware, flaming explosions, sculpture, and performance, head to Beat Hotel for non-stop sets by in-house DJs, and enjoy some comedy in the Circus Tent. After all that, unwind in the the festival's chill-out field, appropriately named The Healing Field. When it comes to the weather, this year is no different to any other – be prepared for sunshine and rain. So of course, wellies are a must. See the line-up of the five main stages here.
