Gwyneth Paltrow has shared a stunning insight into the holiday of a lifetime to Indonesia that made her dreams come true. The Iron Man 3 actress gave fans a glimpse into her and children Apple and Moses's incredible four-day getaway in May with a post on her lifestyle blog Goop.

"A dream of mine came true when I travelled to Indonesia for the first time," Gwyneth, 40, revealed in the post. "Never did I imagine that we would run our hands through the dark ocean at night and watch it light up with phosphorous, see a Komodo dragon in the wild, swim over a massive sea turtle, or be taught to make native dishes in situ. "The Oscar-winner posted breathtaking photos and provided a real insight into the exciting adventure she shared with her two children – husband Coldplay frontman Chris Martin stayed at home – with soundbites of their activities.

"We sailed a little corner of the Indonesian archipelago, which is comprised of over 17,000 islands, over the course of four days", wrote the actress, who also shared anecdotes on the islands and local history. The stunning blonde explored the region in a wonderful boat called the Silolona, which was "designed after traditional Indonesian trade boats that sailed along the historical Spice Routes". Stops were made at deserted islands such as Loh Buaya and Banta, where the environmentally-conscious crew – along with Gwyneth and Apple, 9, and Moses, 7 – "would all spend 20 minutes picking up the debris that had washed up on shore".

The trio was then taught how to make lanterns from the washed up glass bottles "by filling them with kerosene and making a homemade wick", which they dotted around the beach to create a magical setting by night. The self-confessed foodie and writer of It's All Good, for which she has been recently travelling the globe to promote, enjoyed locally cooked delights in beach barbecues, as well as the best of fresh produce aboard the magnificent vessel. "We built a fire and watched in awe as the chef cooked a gorgeous traditional Indonesian barbeque of fish, chicken and vegetables" said the lifestyle guru.Other must-see spots along the way included the Komodo National Park, where carnivorous kimonos live, and Pantai Merah, meaning Pink Beach, which gets its colour from the beautiful coral that surrounds the islands.
