Plans for a theme park that has been described as the "UK Disneyland" are set to go ahead, despite Paramount pulling out of the deal. The film company were previously revealed to be working on developing the London Paramount theme park, with rides themed around a number of their Hollywood film blockbusters, but pulled out of the project in June.

Nonetheless London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), who are leading the development, have announced they are still working on the project but it may just take a little longer for the park to open. The final public consultation events will now take place in early 2018 and if successful work would start soon after, with the park expected to finally open to the public in 2023.

Plans are going ahead for the theme park despite Paramount pulling out of the deal

Humphrey Percy, CEO of LRCH, said in June: "We are creating a unique entertainment destination offering a scale and quality unprecedented in the UK where much loved characters and stories will be brought to life from iconic movies, television, books, electronic gaming and toys."

The exciting attraction looks set to be built in Dartford, Kent. It will cover an 872-acre site on the Swanscombe Peninsula between Gravesend and Dartford, and will have an estimated 50 rides as well as a 2,000 seat theatre, hotels, restaurants and a nightclub. In comparison Walt Disney World in Florida covers a huge 27,258 acre site.

If plans go ahead, the theme park should open in 2023

There is currently nothing quite like the proposed theme park in the UK, and it is hoped that up to 40,000 people will visit per day as a result. The site will have quick transport links to London, while developers are also said to be considering having a boat to take visitors to the park from the capital, which will serve as "part of the attraction".

A series of themed zones were previously developed by Paramount such as Port Paramount, Adventure Isle and Cartoon Circus, and it was also revealed that there will be attractions inspired by Wallace and Gromit and BBC shows. However it is not clear how these plans will change now Paramount are no longer involved. We can't wait to find out more!
