Having got engaged just weeks before on April Fool's Day, Richard and Elena tied the knot on Earth Day, April 22, 2012, in Napa, California.
They surprised friends and family with their speedy decision making, but the wedding was just the way they wanted it to be.
Elena explained, "There was so much love that day as we felt the sun smiling down at us."

The bride's dress was by local Santa Monica designer, Hannah Hudson, and although she had no idea of what she wanted, she chose it there and then.
A construction programme in Los Angeles brought the couple together to install the first urban-sited wind turbine in LA.
Both husband and wife are passionate about environmental issues, hence their decision to get married on Earth Day, surrounded by nature.
They were delighted with the work of their photographer, Dona Kopol Bonik, whose husband also played a part in officiating the bride and groom's vows.
Richard and Elena celebrated their marriage with a decadent, organic red velvet cake and chilled champagne to keep them cool in the Californian heat.
Bride Elena told HELLO! Online, "Nature showed us a lovely day and we were so honoured, blessed and thankful."
