A traditional wedding with a twistOn their five-year anniversary together, HELLO! Online readers Danielle Hewett and Samuel Warne were married at Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham. The teenage sweethearts have lived a true fairytale story. Meeting at nursery as toddlers, and then reunited at the age of 15 at school, Danielle and Samuel fell in love and officially tied the knot on 21 April. At just 20 years old, the couple wanted to follow in the footsteps of their parents' generation with a traditional wedding, but added a few modern twists to reflect their "quirky" personalities.

The bride "I just wanted to look like a bride in my mother or grandmother's day, when weddings were about two people in love, looking their best, and sharing the day with family and friends," says Danielle. Her ivory wedding dress was the classic Adele by Amanda Wyatt (amandawyatt.com). The style was the deciding factor for Danielle, who says, "I loved the traditional shape of the dress, not too meringue-like but sleek and sophisticated with the silk material." The strapless soft, satin gown with ruched bodice was altered to fit her perfectly, and flowed into a waterfall ruffle at the front, adorned with lace appliqué and a subtle silver thread. The back was fastened with lace, and also featured gorgeous pleat work and appliqué detailing.

Danielle accessorised with a sapphire stone necklace that belonged to her mother. "It was my something borrowed and my something blue," she recalls. On her big day, Danielle tried to create a completely different look from her everyday appearance. She wore her hair up, fastening her fair locks with a dainty bridal headband, and kept her make-up natural. Samuel and his bridegrooms looked dapper in their suits by Design Gloucester Bridal and Groom Wear (bridalwearandballgowns.co.uk).

The celebration The reception was held at Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham, in the picturesque Cotswolds. "When you arrive, the hotel looks like a castle, and it made me feel like royalty," says Danielle. She chose Ellenborough Park for its close connection to her family. "It has a history that means a lot to my family," she says. "My grandmother actually went to school there before it was converted into a hotel many years ago. And now it's won UK Hotel of the Year 2013." "The guests that attended the wedding said that although it wasn’t the most extravagant, or expensive wedding they had ever attended, it felt very personal to us," she says. During the ceremony, the couple's friend Marcello sang acoustically and a reading that was written by Danielle was read aloud. The reception played on the modern twist of the ceremony, however. A reggae singer had their friends and family dancing, and the couple's first dance was a mash-up of Ellie Goulding's Your Song to House of Pain's Jump Around.

On the tables, the large sweet jars replaced traditional centre pieces, and countries Danielle and Samuel had visited together were used as inspiration for the table names.
