Having just gotten back from my summer holiday, I’m already on the hunt for my next vacation in the sun. The Balearics are trending right now, famed for their sunny isles, beautiful beaches, stellar resorts and most importantly, great pricing – one search through TUI’s Balearic Island deals and I can be holidaying for as little as £237. No wonder the islands are popular.

Searches for the Balearics are skyrocketing; with average flight times of around 2-2hr30 from the UK and July temperatures between 26-31C, families and couples flock to the islands to enjoy some downtime. If you haven’t yet booked your summer holiday for the six-week-holidays, fear not as TUI’s deals include July and August breaks to the Balearics too.

Most schools break up mid-July, with term time starting early September, so there’s plenty of time to still book something for the family.

Where are the Balearic Islands?

Just off Spain’s east coast, the Balearic Islands is made up of four Spanish destinations; Majorca, the biggest island, is focused on beaches, boasting golden sands and calm, clear waters.

Ibiza is the one for those wanting the nightlife. The island’s main resort of San Antonio is home to world-renowned clubs like Pacha but step away from the clubbing scene and Ibiza is rich in pine forests, hidden caves, and stunning countryside.

Menorca is another of the Balearic Islands, and a great choice for holidaymakers wanting a slower pace according to TUI's experts. Menorca has several quiet, family-friendly beaches plus prehistoric relics to sightsee – one, the village of Torre d’en Gaumes, is over 3,000 years old.

Formentera, the smallest of the Balearic Islands, is reached by ferry from Ibiza and is famed for its clear waters, beaches backed by dunes and pine trees and water sports – snorkelling and sailing are all popular excursions on the island, and you’ll find plenty of operators offering the chance to try them.

Are the Balearic Islands family-friendly?

A search of TUI’s Balearic Island hotel offerings throws up over 360 family-friendly resorts on the various islands, ranging from self-catering to all-inclusive.

They all have child-friendly activities available, including kayaking and snorkelling for the water-confident kids and playgrounds, nature trips and even the chance to sail on a pirate ship in Ibiza.
