    Presenting the Queen with a gift able to stand out from the euphoria of her Diamond Jubilee is no small task. But when her Majesty looks back on a year full of pomp, parties and presents, there are a few candidates likely to stand out. According to an official gift list released by Buckingham Palace, the sovereign had a live baby llama bestowed on her by one unspecified giver.   • Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie begin their drive for British trade

    With Princess Eugenie behind the wheel, she and her sister Beatrice began their mission to support British industry in Germany. The young royals travelled in a Mini Cooper, fittingly emblazoned with a Union Jack, from Berlin's famous Brandenburg Gate to the British Embassy. Twenty-two-year-old Eugenie drove the 800 metre distance as her elder sister waved to those who turned out the greet them.
