  • Queen to attend Margaret Thatcher's funeral as route from Parliament to St Paul's is revealed

    It has been confirmed that the Queen and Prince Philip will both attend the funeral of Margaret Thatcher, which will take place at St Paul's Cathedral on Wednesday 17 April, Downing Street has announced. Baroness Thatcher will receive a ceremonial funeral with full military honours, similar in status to those accorded to the Queen Mother and Princess Diana.     Kate Middleton has already confirmed that she plans to start her maternity leave in June as she awaits the arrival of her first baby — and aptly one of her last official duties looks set to be a champagne celebration.  Pregnant Kate has been named godmother to Princess Cruises' new ship, Royal Princess, and will attend a naming ceremony for the 3,600 passenger ship in Southampton on June 13.     Kate Middleton will champion a cause close to her heart when she visits a Manchester primary school to launch a counselling programme on 23 April. The Duchess of Cambridge, who will be more than six months pregnant at the time of the visit, will meet children in private who have used the charity Place2Be's services.
