But if you had your pick of any cruise destination; where would you head to? We reckon one of these has to be top of the list.
Caribbean cruises offer the chance to head to some of the most famous and glamorous islands in the world. There’s Aruba with its white sand beaches, luxurious resorts and lavish casinos. Jamaica with its colourful history and culture in abundance; and arguably the pick of the bunch, Barbados. You’ll find white sand beaches, turquoise water, and awe-inspiring sunsets; and that’s not even mentioning the food and the local culture. Other top spots for a Caribbean cruise include the Bahamas, Puerto Rio and the Dominican Republic. Imagine seeing them all in just one trip.
Australia / New Zealand
The scenery in both Australia and New Zealand is amongst the most spectacular anywhere in the world. Milford Sound is arguably the top pick in New Zealand, as the imposing rocks force their way up from the ground and numerous waterfalls cascade back down into the water. Cruising the land of the kiwi also lets you enjoy everything else both the south and the north island have to offer. There’s the Abel Tasman National Park, the Bay of Islands and Bay of Plenty, and that’s just for starters. We all know Australia offers something you just couldn’t find anywhere else in the world. Head to the Great Barrier Reef and Fraser Island or cruise into Sydney Harbour in style.
Venice. The French Riviera. Istanbul. It sounds amazing doesn’t it? Mediterranean cruises really offer so much. You’ll be able to take in a wide variety of diverse destinations in a short space of time. Imagine enjoying some romance and the best in Italian culture in Venice, a whirlwind of glamour as soon as you step off the ship in Monte Carlo or the vibrancy and ancient architecture of Istanbul or Athens. A spring, summer or early autumn spent cruising the Med could be the holiday of a lifetime, and it’s so close to home too.
One destination that’s not so close to home, but represents one to tick of the bucket list for intrepid travellers is Alaska. You’ll explore ice-tipped mountains, stunning backdrops. You head inland or just relax on the boat spotting bald eagles hunting, humpback whales breaching and glaciers calving – not a bad swap for the sunshine or the Med or Caribbean.
