Ok, so it might seem like spring is months away yet but come on ladies, we all know how quickly those balmy nights come back around after the Christmas hype has passed. If you want to get ahead in the style stakes for next season then take a sneak peak at the following trends which are set to be some of the hottest looks for the warmer months in 2013...
The SS13 fashion week runways saw an array of futuristic, minimalistic metallic shades in everything from sexy sandals to dresses and casual outerwear. It would appear as though jewel tones are set to carry on long after the party season has disappeared, and right through to our spring / summer wardrobes. Expect to see chunky layers of sparkly embellishments, sharp lines and wet-look garms across both casual and dressy clothing and accessories too.
The Sequin Sequel
As well as metallic shades, sequins have also been a key trend this winter season. From next season we can expect to see an alteration in this sparkly embellishment style, moving away from sequins to a more muted, subtle way of achieving that glittering, sparkling look. Think opal shimmers, pearly glows and lots of flowing, chiffon textures. From turquoise to azure blue, these soft oceanic hues will carry you through this look perfectly. This trend goes particularly well with the next SS13 style set to be big – pastels:
It’s always a popular fashion when springtime comes back around, and pastels are once again set to be huge next season. However the pastels of SS13 have a distinctly retro feel to them this time around. Think hippie inspired headscarves, cat-eye glasses and all the kitsch jewellery you can imagine in soft, innocent tones of mint greens and coral (amongst others). It’s the ultimate way to dress for a soft, warm springtime feel that will be bang on trend long into the summer months.
The Olympic Games might have been in 2012, but the Olympic fashion is championing SS13 with a stylish twist on casual wear. The important thing to remember about this trend ladies, is to strike the balance between active-wear and chic, stylish clothing. You don’t want to look as though you’re constantly on your way to the gym for a workout. This trend is all about the subtle tweaks; the laces on your heels, and mixing things up with neoprene and mesh materials.
Burnt orange shades and tribal prints are another spring / summer style that never gets old. This time around, you can expect a strong focus on feathers, wooden detailing on buttons and clasps and dusty desert tones. Bold injections of red and blue will create a truly Pocahontas feel to your wardrobe – it’s the perfect boho look for all your festival plans next summer.
