Joe Manganiello popped the question in December after six months of dating

The actor made the admission while attending a screening of The Resurrection of Jake The Snake, a documentary that focuses on the struggles of sobriety.

Celebrating his own abstention from drinking, Joe said: "Of course sobriety is something near and dear to me. Twelve-and-a-half years sober. So obviously this is something very close to my heart."

The True Blood alum, 38, popped the question to his stunning Colombian fiancée while they holidayed in Hawaii over Christmas. Joe and Sofia had been dating for six months and met back in May 2014 when the glamazon was still engaged to her former businessman love Nick Loeb.

Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara are set to marry some time this autumn

Sofia and Nick split later that month, and she first went public with her new man Joe in July. At the time she spoke about her blossoming relationship, revealing that "It couldn't be better!"

Joe and Sofia were most recently spotted shopping for rings in early December, just a few weeks before they got engaged.

The 42-year-old actress has previously spoken about how the couple's wedding plans are coming along.

"It's gonna be crazy because we want to do something really big," Sofia told Extra last month. "We have to; we tried to make a small list and it didn't work out. Oh my God, it's gonna be insane. We have to plan a lot."
