It is set to be the wedding of the year, so it's hardly surprising that Pippa Middleton and her fiancé James Matthews are pulling out all the stops to make sure their special day is as perfect as possible. In newly surfaced pictures, renovationworks can be seen being carried out on the main gates to the grounds of St Mark's Church, the beautiful Grade I-listed country church where the couple will exchange vows on 20 May. A sign outside the venue, which sits within the grounds of Englefield House, reads "road closed" and revealed that works will continue until May 8th.

Pippa and James' wedding: everything you need to know

This comes just days after the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister paid a visit to the small, quaint church. Pippa and her fiancé James were last pictured there on Christmas Day, when they attended last year's service with the Middletons. The ceremony will be officiated by Rev. Nick Wynne-Jones, resident priest at St Mark's. The bride's sister Kate is on the star-studded guest list, as is her husband Prince William and the royal couple's children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. It was recently confirmed that the young royals will take centre stage. George, who turns four in July, will act as a page boy, while Charlotte, who turns two on Tuesday, will be a bridesmaid.

It is believed that Kate, 35, will play a pivotal role on the day, but she will most likely not be the maid of honour for fear of stealing the spotlight from the bride. Used to public speaking, she may do a reading during the service. Meanwhile, the reception will be held back at the Middletons' family home in Bucklebury, seven miles away. The beautiful 18 acres are the perfect backdrop for a dream wedding reception. Michael and Carole Middleton's estimated £5.6million, seven-bedroom Berkshire property has ample grounds to accommodate a luxurious marquee, screened by surrounding woodland and fields.
