There has been much speculation about David Beckham going into movies after his football career comes to an end. But it seems the England skipper isn't prepared to wait that long as he is taking a leading role in a new film about his club Real Madrid.

Becks appears alongside teammates Zinedine Zidane, Raul and Ronaldo in the flick, but sources close to the production say the Englishman has by far the most prominent role.

Representatives for the Spanish team explain that Real, The Movie blurs the line between fantasy and reality as five fictional stories are woven together with real life events at the club.

"The film has been shot on location in New York, Tokyo, Caracas, Senegal and Madrid and shows five part-fiction, part-reality stories, all linked to Real Madrid," revealed a spokesman. "The film offers the viewer a unique behind-the-scenes opportunity to see the players and the team, the work and effort that goes into every game, the highs and the lows and their trips around the world."

Fans of Britain's favourite footie ace will have to wait until July, when the film is due for release, to see him strut his stuff on the big screen. The flick is unlikely to test his acting potential too much, though, because the handsome athlete plays himself throughout.
