Billie told a delighted crowd: "Cardiff is like my home town now. You've been so generous, giving up your streets and restaurants for us to film in."

David, who's taken over the Tardis from previous owner Christopher Eccleston, says he's "having a ball" in his new role. "Every day is different," he said. "The other day we were hanging 30ft in the air, although I can't tell you why."

He's already been introduced to viewers after appearing in the final scene of the last series, penned by Swansea writer Russell T Davies. The new episodes hit screens in the spring.
