Charlize Theron hits the beach with her four-legged friends

According to reports stateside Hollywood actress Charlize Theron is keen to produce a children's movie featuring her pet dogs Denver and Delilah. A little energetic fun seemed to be the only thing on her mind, though, when she was photographed enjoying some quality time with her four-legged friends on the beach in Malibu.

The bikini-clad Oscar winner was snapped playing fetch with her canine companions on Sunday afternoon. And although the South African beauty was obviously content to take a leisurely stroll along the sandy shore, her pets put in a rather more energetic performance, sprinting to and from the waterline to retrieve the items their owner threw for them.

Charlize, who was in Edinburgh just last week for the city's film festival, won't be taking it easy for very long, however, as she is looking forward to exploring some new avenues in her career. The 31-year-old has recently followed in Demi Moore's footsteps by making a move into producing with the politically charged documentary East Of Havana, and she has made no secret of her desire to take control behind the camera on more projects.

The non-fiction film, which is critical of both Cuba and the United States, has raised a few eyebrows around Tinseltown but the blonde bombshell obviously isn't afraid of stirring up a little controversy. She has recently signed up to star in her Irish beau Stuart Townsend's directorial debut, Battle In Seattle, which is set against the backdrop of the 1999 World Trade Organisation riots, and her next big screen outing, The Ice At The Bottom Of The World, sees her playing a drug addict.
