Children big and small come together as celebs gather for ultimate toy party

It's a dream party for any child – and perhaps some big kids too.

On Thursday, iconic London toy store Hamleys opened its doors for a special event to mark its 250th birthday, and the stars and their children were out in force to celebrate.

Leading the way was Myleene Klass and her little girl – two peas in a pod with matching hair styles and the same big brown eyes.

Clutching her teddy bear, two-year-old Ava looked excited to get started. And she no doubt had a ball, emerging hours later with her face painted like a butterfly.

With his dad busy preparing for the release of Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter's six-year-old son Billy Ray was treated to a day out with his mum.

The little boy – whose godfather is Johnny Depp – made a rare public appearance alone with the actress at the Regent Street party. And once inside there were plenty of other children for him to play with.

Gail Porter and her six-year-old daughter Honey were there. The Scottish TV presenter was debuting not only a new electric blue hair do, but also her new man, indie rocker Jonny D.

They mingled with the likes of Kirstie Allsopp and her adorable sons Bay, three, and little Oscar, one, and Ulrika Jonsson, who was there with three of her four children.

Enjoying time away from the pitch were football stars Frank Lampard, who brought along his two daughters with ex Elen Rives – Luna, four, and two-year-old Isla – and dad-of-two Rio Ferdinand.

There were plenty of fun activities for the youngsters – and their parents – to enjoy at the party. As well as face painting, there were hair and nail makeovers available, plus puppet shows, custard pie throwing and a giant bouncy castle.

Children also had the chance to meet some of their heroes, including Bob the Builder, Barbie, Hello Kitty and Dora the Explorer.
