Lean on me: Victoria Beckham supports injured David as couple return to the UK

hellomagazine.com Victoria Beckham has been offering her injured husband a helping hand, quite literally, as he begins to recuperate after emergency surgery on his Achilles tendon.

Having flown from Los Angeles to Finland to be with David, Posh was seen helping the football star into a waiting car outside the Mehilinen private clinic on Wednesday.

The couple had spent Tuesday evening together in the facility, where they reportedly ordered in pizzas, before departing the following day - David pictured leaving on crutches.

They flew into London in a private plane and are currently staying in their Hertfordshire base, dubbed Beckingham Palace.

David's spokesman has confirmed that husband and wife will then travel to Los Angeles together in the next few days, where the 34-year-old midfielder will continue his recovery.

Dr Sakari Orava, the orthopaedic surgeon who performed David's operation, did advise the couple not to fly immediately home to America and to stop-over elsewhere first.

He has also spoken out in praise of the dad-of-three, describing him as a "very easy and good patient."

"Even the nurses said they wished all their patients were like him," Dr Orava said. "He was very satisfied and didn’t complain about anything and thanked everyone."

It is though David's complete recovery will take about six months. On his website he revealed he is "feeling positive and now concentrating on getting back to full fitness over the coming months."

Despite the success of Monday's surgery, he has all but been ruled out of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which kicks of on June 11.

A spokesperson for Gordon Brown has revealed the British prime minister has sent a get well message to the former England captain.
