'Sex and the City' ladies sizzle in hot shades on the red carpet as sequel premieres

hellomagazine.com With fashion playing the fifth major character in Sex and the City, all eyes were on the dresses as the stars of the show stepped out for the premiere of the hotly anticipated sequel this week.

And they didn’t disappoint. Leading lady Sarah Jessica Parker hit all the right notes in a striking fluorescent yellow chiffon Valentino gown teamed with satin silver heels.

A departure from the pretty pale green Alexander McQueen dress and Philip Treacy hat she chose for the London premiere of the first film in 2008, Sarah went for a sexy asymmetrical design that perfectly complemented her blonde tresses.

The mum-of-three was not the only actress opting for eye-catching colour on the red carpet. Kristin Davis, who stars as Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the franchise, found a show-stopping hot pink vintage gown by Jean Desses with draped detailing around the waist.

Channelling Hollywood glamour was screen siren Kim Cattrall. First to arrive at the Radio City Music Hall event in New York, the actress wowed in a Naeem Khan sleeveless empire gown with a dramatic neckline, the whole look set off by the marcel waves in her hair.

And keeping it simple and chic at the bash was Cynthia Nixon who opted for a black strapless Carolina Herrera dress with a ruffle around the waist and a silver leaf embellishment on the bust.

If critics thought that Sarah Jessica made a bold choice, it was nothing compared to Liza Minnelli.

The 64-year-old, who makes a cameo in the film singing Beyonce's Single Ladies, wore a fashion-forward sheer metallic outfit on the red carpet.

Other stars from the film at the premiere included the show's male pinups, John Corbett, who arrived with love Bo Derek, Mr Big's Chris Noth and Jason Lewis, who reprised his role as Samantha's ex Smith Jerrod.

Newcomer and British actress Alice Eve - who plays a nanny called Erin - was also in attendance .

Of course there were plenty of famous faces not involved in the production who were eager to catch a glimpse of the movie.

New mum Amanda Peet, Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr, model Alessandra Ambrosio and TV chef Padma Lakshmi showed up for the unveiling of the film, which sees Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda head off to Abu Dhabi on an all-expenses paid luxury vacation.
