During his first post-split interview the Oscar-winner's estranged husband also said he knew he would get found out
Jesse James has spoken for the first time since the collapse of his marriage to Sandra Bullock about his multiple infidelities.
The 41-year-old revealed that his Oscar-winning wife suspected him of being unfaithful to her during their five-year marriage, though he always managed to convince her otherwise.
"I think she's had her suspicions in the past," said Jesse in a TV interview broadcast in the US on Tuesday.
"But… I lied, and lied my way out of it. I lied to everyone about everything, even to myself."
The motorcycle expert and TV star also said he knew he would get found out.
"When I was doing it, you know, one, I knew it was horrible, it made me feel horrible. And two, I knew I would get caught eventually, and I think I wanted to get caught," he added.
When the scandal broke, Jesse says he told Sandra "basically everything" about his affairs. He adds that she was "proud" of him for seeking help and checking himself into an addiction clinic.
In the inverview for entertainment programme Nightline Jesse also spoke about his wife's recent adoption of baby Louis Bardo – who made his debut exclusively in HELLO! magazine.
The star says he was devastated when Sandra told him she wanted to adopt Louis as "a single parent".
