Calum Best was known for being almost as much of a ladies’ man as his late father, George, and has been linked to some of the world’s most famous women including Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian. But in an exclusive interview with HELLO! magazine, he reveals that now he only has has eyes for one woman: stunning Italian model Simona Sofia.

“I turn 30 in February and want to build a committed relationship with the right person,” he told HELLO!. Asked why this was the first time he has been interviewed with a girlfriend, he replied: “Have you seen her? She’s stunning!” The couple met, through mutual friends, when Calum was on a shoot in Italy in the summer.

He tries not to harbour bad feelings towards any ex-girlfriends, including Hollywood wild child Lindsay. “I’m not in touch with Lindsay but she’s a fantastic girl and I’m glad she’s in a better place than she was last year,” he said. “I try to stay on good terms with everyone I’ve dated.”

Simona isn’t phased by Calum’s bad-boy reputation. “Calum has been very upfront about his past – he is a very candid man,” she said. The beauty goes on: “I know, though, that most of the negative stuff has been exaggerated. He has had a crazy life, but he is so sensitive.

"He is actually quite insecure. The last few years have hurt him very much but he has done well to allow himself to grow, and to stop continuing along the wrong road.”

Calum went on a “downward spiral” after the death of his father George, the former Manchester United player, who died in November 2005 following a battle with alcoholism. How is Calum coping five years after his death? ”It’s tough, very tough,” he told HELLO!. “My dad was a national hero and I’m reminded of him on a daily basis. I’m happy that people celebrate his accomplishments.

"However, it was difficult having an alcoholic father. Grieving for him in the public gaze really affected me. I had, and still do have, demons that I have had to face. But time heals all wounds.”

He is now looking forward to his future with Simona. “I am head over heels at the moment and taking each day as it comes,” he said. “This one’s not getting away if I have anything to say about it!”
