A model marriage: Has Kate accepted Jamie's proposal?

There are unconfirmed reports circulating that Kate Moss has accepted Jamie Hince's proposal of marriage.

The couple are to marry in July 2, with Kate's daughter Lila as bridesmaid, reports The Sun.

The newspaper says Jamie popped the question in bed and surprised his 37-year-old girlfriend with a vintage engagement ring worth tens of thousands of pounds.

He apparently switched back on the lights after they had gone to bed and went down one knee. And following tradition, he asked Kate's parents for permission.

A friend of the couple told the publication: "Kate is delighted. Jamie is the man for her – they are soul mates. She just wanted to make him work for her hand in marriage.

"He has been badgering her to get married but she wanted to take her time. Over the last year they have grown so close, they are like man and wife."

Forty year-old Jamie - guitarist with band The Kills – met at one of Jamie's gigs in 2007. They were introduced by Sadie Frost and hit it off straight away.

They hit a rocky patch two years ago and split up for three days, but were soon back in each other's arms.

A deciding factor in Kate agreeing to take the next step was apparently the way Jamie has become a father figure to Lila.

The couple were spotted out in London on Wednesday (top picture), looking at jewellery in Mayfair shops. They then had lunch with Sir Philip Green, who is apparently to throw a dinner party in celebration of their good news.

And though Kate largely tried to keep her left hand out of view, a diamond ring could be seen on her engagement finger.

Earlier this year there were false reports the couple had tied the knot on holiday in Sicily. Kate quickly issued a denial.

The model's past loves include Johnny Depp and Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty. She also had a brief relationship with comedian Russell Brand.
