Pride and joy: Catherine Zeta-Jones made CBE by Prince Charles

Hollywood royalty came face-to-face with the real thing when Catherine Zeta-Jones was made a CBE by the Prince of Wales.

The Chicago star was given the award for services to the film industry and to charity.

Catherine arrived at Buckingham Palace with her two children - Dylan, 11, and eight-year-old Carys - and husband Michael Douglas, looking thin but in good health following his battle with throat cancer.

It's not the first time the 41-year-old Oscar winner has met Prince Charles.

They came face to face at a Ryder Cup gala during Michael's treatment, and the Prince touched the actress with his words of encouragement.

Catherine was delighted when her honour was announced last summer.

She said: "I am absolutely thrilled with this honour. As a British subject, I feel incredibly proud, at the same time it is overwhelming and humbling."

The star added: "And my mum and dad are delighted beyond belief".
