Picture protocol for a regular fan is a quick hug and a smile, but the boys arrived with toy guns for their close up with the songstress – the fun accessories were from the action franchise made famous by Will Smith.

The British boys – Louis Tomlinson, 20, Zayn Malik, 19, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, all 18 – share common ground with the former Pussycat Doll.Their journey to fame began in 2010 when they came third on the seventh series of X Factor .Nicole was a guest judge when the boys were taking their first tentative steps in the industry, and it was she who suggested they form a group when their solo acts failed to impress."Oh yeah, I helped out so much when I came on that show," she said during an interview with Now."I practically put One Direction together with my hands tied behind my back just joking!"That keen eye for talent earned her a full time slot on US X Factor, when she was drafted in to replace Cheryl Cole. She has now left the show and is concentrating on forging a career in film.Nicole also recently re-kindled her romance with Formula 1 ace Lewis Hamilton.
